Jonathan Kanovsky, CPA

Jonathan Kanovsky established JK group in 1986, adding insurance and financial planning services in 1998, and moving to his current office location in 2007. As COE (Chief of Everything), Jonathan is responsible for all tax and accounting work, managerial overview of administrative functions, client acquisition and retention, and providing solutions to Life’s Challenges. He specializes in tax preparation for law enforcement, teachers, firefighters, civil service, and professional services industries. His expertise lies in planning for when life throws you a curveball—such as untimely death, divorce, unemployment, or career change.

Jonathan worked for the New York Police Department for 20 years, from 1983 until 2003. In his role as a Detective, he worked on detailed assignments in the Money Laundering and Asset Forfeiture Units.

Jonathan has earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Hofstra University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. Very active in his community, Jonathan serves as Executive Director of the FF Sergio Villanueva Soccer Foundation, Board Chair of the Steffi Nossen Dance Foundation, and volunteer coach of Briarcliff Manor Youth Lacrosse. In lieu of holiday cards, Jonathan adopts a classroom project in a borough of New York City every year in the name of his clients through He has also endowed scholarships in honor of his late wife, Andrea, awarding over $7,000 in grants annually to students of Lehigh University, Briarcliff High School, and Ursuline High School.

Outside of the office, Jonathan enjoys hiking and adventure travel. He has traveled to Greenland, New Zealand, Glacier National Park, and the White Mountain National Forest on multi-day backpacking adventures. He is currently working on climbing all of the forty-eight 4,000 ft mountains in the White Mountains of New Hampshire (21 down, only 27 to go!). He also enjoys discovering the best roadside hamburger joints throughout the United States. Current favorites include Greasy Nicks (New Rochelle, NY), 603 Burger (Bath, NH), White Hut (West Springfield, MA), and In-N-Out Burger (various West Coast Locations).
